Fun Chicago Bachelorette Parties & Chicago Bridal Showers
by Alison Lonesome Rodriguez
Bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and more!
Weddings give us a chance to celebrate with our friends a number of times during the engagement. Often, the bride’s family will host a shower and then one of her girlfriends will host another one at a later date. Everyone’s just so happy for you and they want to partake in the celebration.
Nowadays, it’s hard to come up with new ideas for bridal parties. Most of us have been to so many showers and bachelorette events that we’ve grown accustomed to the idea of celebrating in a traditional way.
It’s time to think outside of the box. We’ve put together a short list of unique ways to hang out with your family, friends and bridal party members.
Afternoon Tea Enjoying afternoon tea at a 5-star hotel is an experience like no other. Cordial members of the wait staff provide you with a list of some of the finest teas from all over the world. Later, they serve the tea along with delectable little crumpets like mini-tortes and cucumber sandwiches. You’re free to dish away while a 3-piece ensemble plays classical music in an alcove nearby. Some of our favorites include the Peninsula Hotel and the Four Seasons.
Ceramic Parties ֖ Several storefront ceramic studios around Illinois cater to brides and wedding parties. Usually, you’ll pay a studio fee ($7.00 8.00) plus the price of the ceramic pieces you choose to paint on that day. Once you’re finished, the staff will take your pieces and fire them in the kiln sometime over the next few days. Generally, you’re able to pick up your ceramic pieces in a week’s time.
I recently attended a fun baby shower at Glazed Expressions in the heart of Lincoln Park. We were all able to satisfy our artistic cravings while spending quality time with the mom-to-be. You can contact Glazed Expressions at 312-867-1792.
Candle-making Parties Candles can evoke thoughts of romance, mystery and relaxation. The Melting Point in Lincoln Park is a fun place to gather with the girls. During your session you get to pick out the colors for your candles along with your choice of scented oils. They take walk-ins, but encourage group reservations for bridal showers and bachelorette parties.
Side note this is also a hot spot for dates. If you need something fun to do with your fiancé, make a date at The Melting Point. You can contact them directly at 773-529-4048.
Spa Parties Hosting a party at a day spa is a relaxing way to connect with your friends. A number of day spas have included packages on the menu that cater to brides and members of their entourage. Places such as Spa Space and the CHI Healing Center specialize in throwing spa parties that will de-stress and rejuvenate your guests.
Many brides are throwing fabulous spa parties at home. Home Spa Sessions, a
Division of Corporate Massages, Inc., can help you create a day spa experience in the comfort of your own home. They have massage therapists and aestheticians that can provide a number of services to pamper your honored guests. You can find out more information at www.homespasessions.com.
Chicago is a great theater town with plenty of shows to choose from
Theater Outings ֖ Sometimes it’s fun to see a good show with friends and go out for coffee and dessert afterwards. Chicago is a great theater town with plenty of shows to choose from on a regular basis. At Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding you become an invited guest and dine with characters of the play throughout the show. Blue Man Group is a special theatrical experience. So many physical things happen throughout the evening without any of the cast members uttering a single word.
Naked Boys Singing, on the other hand, can have you and your buddies laughing it up all night long. This is a long-running musical at the Bailiwick Repertory Theatre in Chicago that really has naked boys singing. Scores of bridal parties flock to the show every weekend to have a raucous good time. One of our very own fitness experts, John Cardone, performs in the musical au natural with humor, dignity and grace.
So, there you have it. These are just a few ways to have fun with your family and friends. Honestly, they’ll enjoy whatever type of bridal shower or party you create during the engagement. Everyone is just so thrilled for you and your fiancé and they want to celebrate with you every step of the way.
