Affordable Chicago Wedding Planning

I meet Chicago brides all the time who want to have the wedding of their dreams but don’t necessarily have the money in the world to back up that vision.  Does that mean you can’t create an amazing wedding on a limited budget?  Not at all.  Here are some of the ways to create an amazing wedding on any budget.

Flexibility
The most popular day & time for Chicago weddings are Saturday nights.  The Great Hall of Cafe Brauer is already booked through 2007 for that coveted time slot.  Consider having your wedding on a Saturday afternoon.  It could literally shave thousands of dollars off your wedding budget.  We had a lovely afternoon wedding reception at Salvatore’s in Lincoln Park a few years back and our families had a blast.  No one will think less of you if you have a day reception instead of an evening one.  Plus, it will give you time to go out for the “after-party” that evening.

Many Chicago couples are having their wedding on Fridays or Sundays.  If you decide to go this route, be sure to negotiate with your wedding vendors.  Many of them will consider giving you a special rate if you have a wedding at any time other than a Saturday night.

Internet Shopping

Scour the internet looking for bargains.  I purchased my wedding favors, wedding gown, veil, tiara and cake topper all on the internet.  I saved a ton of money and it made my life easier to shop from the comfort of my own home.  I didn’t have time to price-shop in regular stores around the Chicagoland area.

Online shopping is safer than it’s ever been.  Make sure to check for the “https” symbol in the shopping cart URL before submitting your credit card number online.  I know of one Chicago website that accepts payment from Chicago brides without this level of security.

Also, check WeddingChicago.com for special deals.  We’re adding a section called Wedding Coupons to the site, which should be operational sometime next week.

Chicago weddings don’t have to cost of fortune.  Keep checking the Wedding Chicago Blog for more info.

Take care!
