Bounty Hunter Marries After Daughter's Death

Late last week news organizations reported that ‘Dog’ Chapman, star of his bounty hunter reality show on A&E, would be marrying his girlfriend in Hawaii this weekend.  I was going to mention his upcoming nuptials in the Wedding Chicago Blog last week with a slight smirk commenting on his ever-so-popular TV show, but I decided to hold off.  Now, I’m glad I did.

Unfortunately, his 23 year old daughter Barbara Katy Chapman died in a car accident in Fairbanks, Alaska on Friday night, one day before the bounty hunter’s wedding.  The family discussed whether or not they should still have the wedding, and they ultimately decided to go along with their original plans.

I can only imagine how hard that must have been for the entire family.  I get emotional during weddings when couples make kind remarks about their dearly departed loved ones.  Considering the time frame, the wedding must have been unbelievably emotional for all of the parties involved.

They taped the wedding to appear in a later episode of the upcoming season, but I’m sure the producers weren’t expecting to deal with such a traumatic event to coincide witht the wedding.  Who knows?  Maybe they used part of the day to celebrate her life along with the love they have for each other as a family.
