Cancer Survivor Wins $100,000 Dream Wedding

A story in the Reading Eagle talks about a cancer survivor in Florida who comes out on top after she wins a dream wedding worth $100,000.  Courtney Dempsey was diagnosed with late stage melanoma and given only a year to live by her doctors four years ago.  She lived beyond that year, but she later needed a double masectomy. 

During this time she met her fiance’, Gary Courtney, who helped her recover from the surgery.  At some point they entered the US Magazine’s wedding contest and beat out 40,000 other couples to win the top prize.

I love it when good things happen to people that have survived a bevy of challenges.  We don’t know their financial position or if they even needed the money, but it doesn’t matter.  They won and at least they’ll get the wedding of their dreams as a result.
