Chicago Brides Beware
February 1, 2006
I just got wind of a rather unscrupulous practice from a few multi-level marketing companies. If a company contacts you to let you know that you’ve won a honeymoon package, please make sure that you research the company thoroughly before you purchase any big-ticket items from them. Sometimes the “free honeymoon” is to lure you into their web.
Apparently, some companies have been known to call newly engaged couples to tell them that they’ve won a honeymoon prize. The catch is that they can’t receive their prize until they’ve sat through a sales pitch at a local hotel.
Couples have been known to purchase big ticket items during marathon long sessions with these highly-trained sales professionals. They’re often tired and hungry and end up paying thousands of dollars for items that they would normally pay a few hundred dollars.
I’ve also heard that sometimes these companies actually do give couples their promised honeymoon package at the end of the sales pitch. But, the prize might have so many restrictions that it could be impossible to actually redeem your well-earned prize.
Scam artists are everywhere, but we have plenty of ethical Chicago wedding professionals. Trust me. I’m always keeping an eye out for you.
Have a great night!
