Chicago Honeymoon Travel Agents vs. Honeymoons Online

Many couples wrestle with the idea of booking their ultimate honeymoon vacation online by themselves, or working with a seasoned Chicago honeymoon travel agent.  There are pros and cons to both sides, but here are a few things to consider:

Experience
A Chicago travel agent has often travelled all over the world to get a better idea of resorts and destination sites to better guide their clients. It may sound like a glamorous job, but it’s a lot of work travelling on a regular basis and trying out the local cuisine at different hot spots.  Many Chicago honeymoon consultants also take part in the local tourist activities to find out if their Chicago clients should invest their time, money and energy in them.

A Chicago travel agent is also able to tell you the real deal about the accommodations of one honeymoon resort over another.  For example, you may want to save a few dollars by staying in the garden hotel room and hope that the Front Desk will upgrade you to a honeymoon suite.  Well, depending on the time of year you visit the honeymoon location, you might not get an upgrade if the hotel is at full capacity.  An experienced Chicago travel agent will have visited the garden rooms and will let you know if they’re located across a busy street or right near the garbage area.

Price
Hiring a Chicago travel agent might seem a lot more expensive than just doing it yourself, but, like Chicago wedding planners, they can often save you money.  Many Chicago travel agents have cultivated working relationships over the years with staffers at different resorts around the world.  If they know that the hotel experiences a lot of downtime in a particular month, they might be able to negotiate better rates, free breakfast and other upgrades just for you on your honeymoon. 

Travel agents and proprietors of resorts and hotels want to make you - the Chicago honeymooners - happy.  They want you to absolutely love their establishment and to come back many more times over the duration of your long and healthy marriage.  They want you to tell all of your newly-engaged friends about their unbelievably gorgeous resort and all of the perks that came along with their reservation. 

Flexibility
Chicago travel agents are really good at fixing problems.  Let’s say you show up at a resort that is 85% time share and you’re stuck with a lot of screaming kids running around the pool.  Just give your travel agent a call and he or she will move you to a different hotel by the end of the day.  It’s nice to have an experienced professional working for you so that you don’t have to get into any messy altercations with the staff.  Let your travel agent take care of it.  That’s what they’re good at.

So, can you find an awesome deal online for your honeymoon?  Sure.  To be honest, my husband and I booked our honeymoon online and, for the most part, everything turned out great.  But, some things came up during the honeymoon, like the bathroom in our room looked like it came from the Camp Derricott of my youth.  Actually, it was just a stark shower stall with all of the necessary accoutrements.  It wasn’t that big of a deal, but I would have liked to call a travel agent to fix the problem and move us somewhere else.
