Creative Chicago Wedding Cakes & Bakeries

Choosing a baker to create your very own Chicago wedding cake can be a daunting task.  First, you have to make appointments with several bakeries, and then take notes during the meeting.  It’s easy to get lost in the flavor of one type of Chicago wedding cake over another if you don’t spread out your appointments over several days.

Bakers are not a dime a dozen.  Some consider themselves artists that happen to use sugary items to create their edible masterpieces.  Others take a cookie cutter approach and make sure that the cake tastes good, but it won’t have the extra special touches to create an extraordinary Chicago wedding.

I happen to be a friend of all cakes, big and small.  Sure, you can eat a boring, white cake from your neighborhood grocery store, but why would you?  It isn’t that a waste of calories?

Take your time when choosing a Chicago wedding cake, because your guests will remember it.  We had a chocolate wedding cake with banana fudge filling and our guests still talk about it.  Dessert always, always makes an impact.  Again, I don’t think you need to pay a fortune for your cake but try to choose one that’s beautiful and edible.  Taste and smell are two of the strongest senses that we have, so it’s worth it to get something that the majority of your guests will like.

Also, do not go alone!  I went to one of my cake tastings by myself and I was completely overwhelmed.  Take either your partner or a friend with you.  When it comes to sugary goodness, sometimes two heads (set of tastebuds) are better than one.

Some Chicago brides choose different flavors for each tier.  Now, I think that’s pretty fun since your guests might be more encouraged to share with one another.  You never know…

Be sure to check out the cakes from Marked from Dessert.  They’re based on the north side and they also host baking parties for showers or bachelorette gatherings.
