Chicago Wedding Photography in Millennium Park
July 7, 2006
Millennium Park is absolutely gorgeous. The landscaping is so well-designed and planned out that it’s a perfect spot for amazing Chicago wedding photography shots using the Chicago skyline as a backdrop.
Some friends and I crossed through Millennium Park on our way to see the ever-so-gifted India.Arie play at the Petrillo Shell this week and we all remarked at the beauty of Millennium Park. You can tell how much thought went into the landscaping and design of the area, including the Park Grill Cafe, the Jay Pritzker Pavillion, Crown Fountain & the Wrigley Square Fountain.
But the star of Millennium Park to me is Cloud Gate, otherwise known as The Bean. It really is a remarkable piece of work. We stepped back at one point to take in our reflection in The Bean and saw the beauty of the Chicago skyline in the background. It’s an awesome spot for a Chicago wedding photographer to take unforgettable wedding pictures.
I thought that the city would have strict regulations regarding professional photography in the park, but they make it relatively easy to shoot small wedding parties in Millennium Park.
I found out that only large-scale photography or video shoots need to apply for a permit to shoot at the park. Professional wedding photographers are allowed to take wedding photos in the park as long as the wedding party is under 15 people. For parties that are larger that 15 people, you just need to contact the management office directly at 312-744-6050.
They also ask that you only take 15 minutes per location in the park in order to lessen congestion with the other visitors and tourists. The other rules include no electrical lighting or extra equipment, no backdrops, no alcohol in the park, etc. Click here to view the rules regarding photography shoots at Millennium Park.
Millennium Park is an example of one of the many wonderful amenities our city has to offer. Why not take advantage of the great views when planning out the photography for your wedding?
Take care!
