Hiring Chicago Wedding Musicians & Chicago DJs
March 15, 2006
During the Wedding Chicago Bridal Show, we had the pleasure of hearing two sets of Chicago Wedding Musicians. Abellimento, a flute & harp duo, started off the day with gorgeous music from their repertoire. Next, we were treated to the musicial stylings of the Dave Ivaz Music trio. I’ve never worked with Dave Ivaz before, but he and his trio were simply amazing. We received a lot of compliments on the music from both sets of musicians.
Many of you have asked whether it’s smarter to get a DJ for your wedding or hire a full orchestra for your reception. That depends on your preference and the type of wedding you’d like to have.
If money is an issue, consider having live music for part of your wedding and a DJ for the reception. It’s very common for couples to have a trio of classicial musicians for their ceremony, jazz trio for their cocktail hour and a DJ for their reception. That way you get to have your cake and eat it too.
Sometimes it’s more cost effective to have a trio at your ceremony and a DJ for all of the reception. That’s fine too. You won’t mess up on any of your choices.
I can tell you that we had a jazz trio for our cocktail reception and it had a huge impact on our reception. People walked into the reception site and were immediately impressed with our trio. It gave our affair a very elegant touch.
Be sure to interview your Chicago Wedding Musicians or Chicago Wedding DJs at length to make sure that their style matches yours.
