Last Minute Chicago Brides

There are many organized Chicago brides that plan every last detail of their wedding months and months ahead of time.  There are also plenty of brides like myself who wait until the last minute to take care of the wedding details.

I waited until a month before my wedding to purchase my wedding veil, my shoes, wedding favors, and our cake topper.  We also tried to make our wedding programs at the last minute, but that’s a totally different issue altogether.  That’s a totally separate blog entry, but I will suggest that you give yourself plenty of time to get them made professionally.

I don’t know what that’s about...waiting until the last minute to take care of those details.  I think I was just so overwhelmed with the wedding planning that I just needed a few months off to decompress from all of the planning.  My brain needed a rest, at least for a little while.

I was talking to a wedding vendor today who suggested that Chicago brides like to take their time planning a wedding.  They’re gathering the information, comparing wedding vendors, and researching online for wedding ideas.  I honestly believe that wedding planning kicks into high gear around mid-April, which is post-Easter, post-Passover and post-IRS deadline.  Also, Chicago finally gets a taste of spring around this time of year, too.

Couples can only juggle so much while working full-time jobs.  Plus, they don’t want to sign their name to the dotted line until they’re really sure.

When I worked as a Chicago wedding videographer we would get requests as late one month before the wedding.  That shocked me in the beginning, but I grew used to it.

Wedding planning is not necessarilly fun, but it doesn’t have to knock you out either.  Taking time to plan my wedding was a smart thing to do, but it would have helped me to take care of those details several months before the wedding, instead of just one.  Just a thought....

that she heard from several brides right after the Wedding Chicago Bridal Show and that she didn’t hear anything from awhile from them.  Now, one of the brides is contacting her about her wedding
