Last Minute Chicago Weddings
July 19, 2005
Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to coordinate a wedding in under 6 months.
I’ve had a few conservations with Chicago brides and Chicago wedding vendors lately and they’ve shared tips on how to plan a Chicago wedding at the last minute.
Tip #1 – Flexibility
If your main objective is to get married, then you’ll have to be flexible with your wedding date, reception site and Chicago wedding vendors. Many vendors and Chicago reception sites book up to a year in advance, so you’ll have to keep an open mind when creating a short list of vendors.
You’ll also have a better chance to book your top vendors if your wedding date is on a Thursday, Friday or a Sunday. Because most weddings happen on a Saturday, you might even be able to negotiate a lower rate for their services.
Tip #2 – Getting the Word Out
When you decide on a wedding date, inform as many friends and family members about your upcoming wedding. Chances are that they know of Chicago wedding vendors that might be available to work with you.
Tip #3 – Ask for Help
You have to plan a major event in a short period of time...why not enlist your girlfriends to help you? They’re probably really excited and would love to take on a small wedding planning task. They could make appointments for you or contact Chicago wedding vendors to get a sample of their work.
Tip #4 – Keeping it Simple
I know of one bride that got married in France and planned an awesome wedding reception several months later. Her objective was to have a rocking event without getting stressed out.
If you can only plan a small wedding with family & friends right now, then so be it. You’ll have a great time celebrating your wedding with the ones you love.
Have fun!
