Lincoln Park Zoo as a Chicago Reception Site
May 4, 2006
Most Chicagoans know about the Lincoln Park Zoo. It’s a major tourist destination that’s fun for the kids and is a top spot for family gatherings in the summer. Growing up, I never would have considered a zoo as my wedding reception site until I saw Cafe Brauer.
As many of you know, we had the Wedding Chicago Bridal Show at the Great Hall of Cafe Brauer this past February and it was unbelievably successful. Cafe Brauer is located right in the heart of the zoo and is the perfect location for a Chicago wedding. You can see the Chicago skyline from one of the Loggias or the main hall itself.
The park is a top spot for wedding photo opportunities. Last summer, my husband and I ran into not one, but two wedding parties taking pictures in one of the gardens. One wedding party had a white limo and the other party had a black limo. But, the funny thing was that the bridesmaids from both wedding parties were wearing the same color bridesmaid dresses.
First we thought it was one huge wedding party and then we realized what we were seeing. The color was a mixture between red and wine, so you could obviously see these women from far away.
If you go to the park on a Saturday in the summer, you’ll see at least one wedding party taking pictures. Some of them are actually having their wedding at Cafe Brauer in the Lincoln Park Zoo, but others are simply at the park for the photo opps.
Just so you know, you don’t have to deal with stinky smells ruining your wedding if you decide to have your reception at Cafe Brauer. Cafe Brauer is located on a pond, and the animals are far enough away to spare you all of their aromatic tendencies.
Take care!
