Marine Marries Without Arm & Leg
May 19, 2006
I read a lot about weddings during the day and talk to lots of brides, so it’s easy to lose sight of what’s really important in a wedding. I recently read about a marine named Mark Beyers who recently lost his right arm and leg in a roadside bomb in Iraq, but fought to stand at the altar with his fiance to exchange wedding vows.
After the accident, Mark had to go through 20 more surgeries, rehab and several fittings to find a prosthetic arm and leg that work for him. With his fiancee’ by his side, he struggled to build the strength and the coordination to walk with his new appendages.
They finally married in the Virgin Islands a few weeks ago with their loved ones around them.
His commitment to his fiancee’ and his courage are unbelievable to me. He found a way to marry his sweetheart while standing on his own two feet, prosthetic leg or not. Check out the orginal article: Marine Marries without Arm or Leg
Take care!
