Wedding News: No Privacy for Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan
April 26, 2007
Several days after the famous Bollywood wedding of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, a report in nowrunning.com states that several wedding guests took pictures of the happy couple on their cell phones and distributed the pictures to different media outlets.
This wedding celebration has definitely become the most famous Bollywood wedding of India, but why should it matter that guests surreptitiously photographed the Bollywood stars? Because this intrusion is indicative of the arrogance some people have with regard to the wishes of soon-to-be married couple.
Couples have a right to make their own decisions about their wedding, and it’s the obligation of the invited guests to respect their wishes whenever possible. Couples go to great lengths to create a guest list. They usually come up with the first draft and, for whatever reason, they revise the list a few more times before they come up with the final list.
As a guest, I realize that it is an honor to get invited to a wedding celebration. The couple has invested a great deal of time and money to create a personalized wedding that will fully express the love they have for each other. How disrespectful is it for me to disregard the wishes of a bride and groom and do whatever I want at their wedding?
During the report, it was revealed that a neighbor of Amitabh Bachchan, father of the groom, took photos during the wedding and sent them to a family member online. Allegedly, the pictures were “stolen” during transit online. Sure...talk about neighborly love.
This blog entry won’t change the behaviour of rude wedding guests around the globe, but I hope it will make someone think twice before going against the expressed wishes of an engaged couple on their wedding day.
Take care!
