Olivia Newton-John Gets Married Twice in Ten Days

According to the Herald Sun, Olivia Newton-John married millionaire John Easterling twice in ten days.  The first wedding was in a private Incan ceremony on top of a Peruvian mountain on June 21st with only the two of them.  The second wedding was on a beach in Florida nine days later in order to make their marriage legal.  They kept both events secret until their barbecue party on the 4th of July.

The reason I like this story is that they did what was right for them.  They didn’t feel the need to throw a huge bash just because that’s what you’re supposed to do, especially if you’re a celebrity like Olivia Newton-John.

Ms. Newton-John is a breast cancer survivor who has gone through a lot over the years.  In 2005 her boyfriend went missing while on a fishing trip only to never be never heard from again.  Even though she and Mr. Easterling have only been dating for a year, their mutual love and respect for one another gave them impetus to come together as one.

It’s not unusual for couples to get married in a number of different places, especially if they are from different countries or have connections to people around the world.  I have a friend who had a civil ceremony at the Chicago Cultural Center in front of immediate family members, a much larger wedding in Maui and an even greater wedding celebration in a castle in Germany.  She and her husband are from two separate countries and chose to wed in different places in order to include more loved ones in their celebration.

Getting married in several celebrations does not have to be that expensive, especially if your family members work together to throw one of your special events.  If loved ones can’t make it to your wedding, talk to them about having a smaller celebration in your hometown.  They will probably appreciate the fact that you want to include them in your event as much as possible.

Havea great one!
