Runaway Bride Makes Amends

Jennifer Willbanks is paying her debt to society for making some really bad decisions a few months ago.  As everyone knows, she panicked days before her wedding and ran off without alerting anyone of her getaway plans ahead of time.  She then concocted a kidnapping story to cover up her misdeeds.  Now, she has to make amends for this bad behavior.

I think that it’s right that she has to “serve time” for her part in that debacle.  She freaked out about the idea of getting married and completing everything on her to-do list, and chose to runaway from her problems.  That’s not living in reality.  When things get tough, I can’t just run away.  One person told me once that even if you escape to a deserted island, your problems will follow you.  They don’t just evaporate into thin air.

I have compassion for Jennifer Willbanks because she didn’t reach out for help.  During my engagement, I leaned on friends and family members to get me through the stressful periods.  From all accounts, it looks like Ms. Willbanks didn’t ask for enough help or support.

Part of her community service entails cleaning toilets and mowing the lawn.  That’s not an easy job, but she has to do it.  It takes a lot of humility to do these tasks, but it’s part of her amends.  Hopefully, her actions will speak volumes to other stressed-out brides that are on the verge.

Have a good one!
