Spending Time with Friends
July 29, 2005
My husband and I are not joined at the hip. He has his interests and I have mine. The individual time we take for ourselves helps our marriage greatly.
I often run into couples that are literally bonded to one another. They have to do everything together. Now that they’re engaged, they spend even more time together. Sure, they go to the obligatory pre-wedding parties and nosh on a few dishes with their buddies here and there. For the most part, their personal relationships with friends fall by the wayside. The bulk of their time is spent planning the wedding and occasionally going out with each other.
I thoroughly enjoy the time I spend with my friends. I can’t expect my husband to fulfill all of my needs. One girlfriend and I can talk for hours without ever getting tired of one another. I think my husband would pass out if he had to endure a marathon conversation like that.
Remember to take some personal time to hang out with your friends. You might even want to spend a relaxing afternoon at your favorite day spa and finish up the night with dinner and a movie.
Have fun!
