Starting your Marriage on the Right Foot

Hello Everyone,

I haven’t blogged in a long time and it’s nice to get back into the fold.  We are now in the swing of the wedding season and love is in the air.  Right now you’re probably getting deluged by wedding vendors, magazines and wedding websites.  Take it easy.  You don’t need to respond to every unsolicited email from vendors.  Try to remember to take a break from the wedding planning.  It’s not that serious.  Be sure to take time for yourself.

This advice probably sounds opposite from what you’d expect to hear from an online wedding magazine like Wedding Chicago.  Well, the fact of the matter is that we don’t want to just focus on helping you plan a fabulous wedding by any means necessary.  We want to take the time to talk about relationship issues and personal issues with regard to marriage.  We also want to offer different ways to help you build a foundation for your marriage.  That’s what is really important.

I took some time during the fall to re-discover our original vision in creating this resource.  So many of you are reading the website and we have a certain amount of reponsibility to help brides during this time.  It’s easy to get caught up in the all important details of planning a wedding instead of creating a strong foundation for marriage.  We got caught up in it too, and had to come back to our original mission of helping you prepare for the wedding AND the marriage.

Contrary to popular belief, we do not plan weddings.  Wedding Chicago is an online wedding magazine and resource for Chicagoland brides.  Our vision is to stay in conscious contact with you, our readers, via the blog and email blasts to help you through your engagement.

We look forward to connecting with you on a regular basis in the future.  We will occasionally announce special sales as we hear of them.  We will also talk about life issues for engaged couple as they come up.  We will submit articles from different authors in our blog that we believe might help you in your journey.

Feel free to drop us a line any time.  Take care of yourself and happy wedding planning!

That’s excellent advice… so many people put so much emphasis on the wedding without thinking very much about the actual marriage.
