Wedding Chicago: Bridezilla Wins $50,000

Today, several brides participated in a promotion for the Bridezilla TV show on Good Morning America.  Dressed in full bridal attire, the women dove into a gigantic, multi-layered cake in the middle of Times Square with the hope of finding a check for $50,000.  Gina Savastano climbed the monstrosity and plucked the check from the very top layer of the cake.  The overjoyed bride is getting married on New Year’s Eve and intends to use the money toward the wedding, honeymoon and a new house.

I really dislike the term “Bridezilla”, but I would have torn that cake apart with fervor to find that check.  My husband and I were on such a tight budget when we planned our wedding that even $1,000 would have gone a long way.  After entering so many wedding-related contests and sweepstakes, we were just left with a ton of junk mail from wedding companies around the country.
