Wedding Chicago: The Value of Wedding Rings
June 8, 2005
I wear my wedding rings every single day. Whenever I misplace my rings somewhere around my home, I search feverishly until I have found them. If I absentmindedly leave the house without the rings, I return home as soon as possible. Those rings are so much a part of me that I feel naked without them.
According to an Associated Press report on Abcnews.com, an Indiana man retrieved his wedding ring after an 11-year absence. Bob Markovich lost his wedding band about 11 years ago while he and his wife were getting ready to move. After looking through his house, the yard and even the garbage cans he gave up the search. The current owner of the home recently found the wedding band while raking the backyard. She returned it to Mr. Markovich this just in time for his twenty-year wedding anniversary.
Before I got engaged to my husband, I really thought I needed lots of diamonds in my engagement ring and my wedding band to be happy. I know that sounds pretty shallow, but I thought that size and the number of diamonds in my rings correspond to the amount of love my partner has for me.
I quickly learned that the value of my wedding rings isn’t connected to the metal or the quality of the diamonds in the settings. My rings aren’t worth a million dollars but they mean a lot to me.
Whatever amount you and your future husband spend on your wedding rings is more than enough. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself to keep up with the Joneses. The value of your rings will increase over time no matter what.
Have a great day!
