Wedding News: Burmese Wedding Stopped by the Police
April 23, 2007
A wedding of Burmese migrant workers came to a grinding halt when the police make an unplanned entrance during the festivities. Two migrant workers gathered with friends and family members to celebrate their love in holy matrimony. However, Thai police interrupted the happy occasion and arrested over 40 allegedly undocumented migrant workers.
I can understand if the purpose of the gathering was to do harm to the Thai government, but these people were celebrating love and happiness. Did they really have to raid a wedding to catch undocumented workers? Couldn’t they have approached individuals at their workplace at a different time or place? This seems a little like overkill, but maybe that’s just me. Check it out: http://www.mizzima.com/MizzimaNews/NewsBriefs/2007/April/03-April-2007.html
