Chicago Wedding Gifts for Couples without a Registry
August 5, 2006
It’s so hard to buy wedding gifts for couples that have elected not to register for wedding gifts. Later this month I’m attending a ceremony with a couple who specifically asked guests to refrain from buying them wedding gifts. They are both well established in their lives and their careers and really don’t have a need for any new things.
They did recommend a charity that their guests can donate to with the money they would have spent on wedding gifts. That’s a wonderful suggestion, but I would still like to get them something special to honor their celebration.
What do you get for someone who has everything? That’s a question that I get asked a lot. My answer is always gift certificates, gift certificates, gift certificates. I’m a big day spa person, so I always recommend purchasing spa gift certificates for the happy couple.
Once the bride & groom return from their honeymoon, they’ll have to get right back into the swing of things. Having a gift certificate for a couples spa massage & body wrap is a nice little treat that they can enjoy together on a snowy afternoon in the winter.
Another idea for a wedding gift that they would enjoy is a gift certificate to your favorite Bed & Breakfast. This would be a great getaway for their 6 month wedding anniversary or just because they want to play hooky one day. I’ve never met a couple that didn’t appreciate a mini-vacation from the city.
Take care!
Alison
