Real Wedding Crashers Strike Tonight
April 23, 2007
The Real Wedding Crashers debut tonight with much fanfare from the folks at NBC. MTV Punked Super Star gives the public a “real” version of The Wedding Crashers. This show has gotten panned by critics across the board, but who knows? Maybe they’ll find an audience in couples and brides-to-be.
Here’s the premise in a nutshell: Ashton Kutcher and his band of merry men and women pull pranks on wedding guests, friends and family members of the bride and groom in different situations. The couples are usually in on the joke and the “professional” actors improvise their way through the prank until we have the big reveal.
I guess I can see how this can be funny, but it just seems to make a mockery of a blessed event. Call me crazy, but I want to relish in the fact that I’m going through a major transition from single to forever wed during my wedding ceremony. I don’t want any pranks, jokes or gags to distract me from taking in the moment or to prevent me from being fully present during my wedding.
