Saugatuck, Michigan - Fun Honeymoon Getaway

Saugatuck, Michigan is the perfect spot for couples who want to romp around on the beach but are on a very tight budget.

Saugatuck is a fun-filled destination about 2 hours from downtown Chicago.  This lakeshore jewel is an artist community located on some of the best beaches in the Midwest.

My husband and I like to go up to Saugatuck a lot and we’ve checked out the following sites:

1) Lake Shore Resort - it’s right on the beach and the prices are just right.  Site:  http://www.lakeshoreresortsaugatuck.com

2) Maplewood Hotel - it’s right in the heart of downtown Saugatuck, but Oval Beach is a short car ride away.  Very nice hotel and they have an outdoor pool. Site:  http://www.maplewoodhotel.com

3) Rosemont Inn - We sent friends of ours there for an anniversary present and they loved it.  They have a large dining room and a kitchen that you might be able to use.  Pool, jacuzzi and located right on the beach.  Site:  http://www.rosemontinn.com

4) Belvedere Inn - Has an onsite restaurant, so it makes things very convenient.  It’s a little pricier, but sometimes they have deals.  Site:  http://www.thebelvedereinn.com

5) Martha’s Vineyard - This is our #1 B&B spot in Michigan. Very friendly innkeepers, great breakfasts. They also have semi-private access to a beach, but you have to cross the road and walk about 10 minutes.  The beach is great.  Site:  http://www.marthasvy.com

There are lots of things to do in Saugatuck - boat rides, shopping, apple picking (when in season), hiking, swimming, etc.  There are a lot of art galleries and sometimes they hold drawing workshops.
